MOTHER NATURE SWEEPS DIAMOND NATIONALS CARD FOR SECOND STRAIGHT SEASON...By Gary Lileck

Forestville, PA - September 27, 2009 Rain and wet grounds forced the cancellation of Sunday's Landis C. Deck/Yuengling Diamond Nationals. A rain storm started Saturday aftternoon and continued to linger within the Big Diamond Raceway area, nullifying the entire Diamond Nationals weekend.

The exact same scenario took place during last year's Nationals. As a matter of fact, only three races have actually been completed in the Diamond Nationals since the idea was born in 2006. Five (counting this year's events) have been cancelled due to unsatisfactory weather conditions.

The weekend washout has given Mother Nature a grand total of a dozen rain-outs this season at the three-eighth's mile speedway. One event remains on the 2009 schedule.

The Savage 61 Dodge/Dan Drobnick Welding Nutty Buddy Enduro Series has one big non-points race scheduled for this upcoming Saturday October 3..The 6/8 Cylinder division competes in a 100-lap race ($1000 to win if at least 40 cars are present), the 4 Cylinder enduro is 100-laps ($1000 to win providing there are at least 40 entrants), and a 6/8 Cylinder Ladies race will be held. Adult general admission is $8, and racing begins at 6:30PM.

For info on the speedway, visit the track's official website located at www.bigdiamondraceway.com
